Frequently Asked Questions

CPD, accreditation and our programs.

Clear answers about continuing professional development, what accreditation means, and how our programs work.

Understanding CPD

What does CPD stand for?

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. It describes the structured, ongoing learning people undertake to maintain, update and develop their professional knowledge and skills throughout their working lives.

What is Continuing Professional Development?

Continuing Professional Development is a deliberate approach to learning that continues after formal education. Rather than a one-time qualification, it is an ongoing commitment to keeping skills current and relevant. CPD can include structured courses, assessments, workshops and other organised learning activities.

Why is CPD important?

Business practices, technology and customer expectations change constantly. CPD helps people keep their skills up to date, demonstrate a commitment to professional growth, and build capabilities that remain useful as roles and industries evolve.

Who is CPD for?

CPD is relevant to anyone who wants to keep developing professionally — employees, entrepreneurs, business owners, sales professionals, service providers, consultants and people moving between roles or industries. It is not limited to a single profession.

What are CPD hours?

CPD hours (sometimes called CPD points or credits) indicate the amount of structured learning time a program represents. Ethical Sales & Revenue Strategy, for example, provides 24 CPD hours. Requirements differ between employers, regulators and professional bodies, so learners should confirm how CPD hours are recognised in their own situation.

Can CPD support professional development?

Yes. That is its purpose. Structured CPD programs organise learning into clear subject areas with defined objectives, so people can develop skills deliberately rather than by trial and error.

Can CPD be completed online?

Yes. Many CPD-accredited programs are delivered online. What matters for accreditation is the structure, learning objectives and quality of the education — not whether it is delivered in a classroom.

Can online learning qualify as CPD?

Online learning can qualify as CPD when it is structured, has clear learning outcomes and — for accredited CPD — has been reviewed by an independent CPD accreditation organization. Informal content such as social media posts or videos generally is not the same as accredited CPD.

Can CPD programs be self-paced?

Many are. Self-paced programs let learners work through material on their own schedule, which suits people balancing work, business and other commitments.

Do I need previous experience to take CPD education?

Not usually. Most CPD programs are designed for people at different stages. Some advanced programs may assume background knowledge, which would be stated in the program details.

Are CPD programs only for certain professions?

No. While some regulated professions have specific CPD requirements, CPD as a concept applies across industries and roles. Many people take CPD purely to strengthen their skills, regardless of any formal requirement.

CPD Accreditation & Certificates

What does CPD accredited mean?

A CPD-accredited program has been independently reviewed by a CPD accreditation organization against its standards for structure, learning objectives and educational quality. It means the program has been assessed by a third party rather than relying only on the course creator's own claims.

What is a CPD-accredited course?

It is a course that has gone through an independent CPD accreditation review and meets that organization's standards. Accredited courses typically state their CPD hours and may include an assessment.

Who accredits CPD courses?

CPD accreditation is provided by independent CPD accreditation organizations. These are separate from governments, universities and licensing bodies. Each organization sets its own review standards.

How can CPD accreditation be verified?

Accreditation details can typically be checked through the applicable CPD register maintained by the accrediting organization. Ethical Sales & Revenue Strategy has been independently CPD accredited, and its accreditation can be verified through the applicable CPD register.

Does CPD accreditation mean government accreditation?

No. CPD accreditation is provided by independent CPD organizations. It is not government accreditation, government approval or government licensing.

Is CPD a professional licence?

No. CPD is not a professional licence and does not authorise anyone to practise a regulated profession. Licences are issued by regulators or licensing bodies, which may have their own separate requirements.

Is CPD the same as a university qualification?

No. CPD is not a university degree, diploma or academic qualification. It represents structured continuing professional learning, which complements — but is different from — formal academic study.

Do you receive a certificate after CPD?

Many CPD programs provide a certificate or credential on successful completion. For Ethical Sales & Revenue Strategy, learners who complete the program and achieve at least 70% on the required assessment earn certification as an Ethical Sales & Revenue Strategist.

What does a CPD certificate mean?

A CPD certificate is evidence that you completed a structured learning program, and — where an assessment applies — that you met its standard. It documents continued professional learning; it is not a licence or a regulated designation.

Does every employer or professional body recognize the same CPD?

No. Recognition varies. Some employers and professional bodies have their own CPD requirements or approved providers. Requirements differ between employers, regulators and professional bodies, so learners should confirm how CPD hours are recognised in their own situation.

Can CPD education be added to a résumé?

Yes. Completed CPD education and any credential earned can be listed in the professional development or education section of a résumé, alongside the number of CPD hours.

Can CPD education be listed on LinkedIn?

Yes. Certifications and completed courses can be added to the Licenses & Certifications or Courses sections of a LinkedIn profile. Describe the credential accurately — as CPD-accredited professional development, not as a licence or degree.

Who CPD Is For

Can entrepreneurs take CPD programs?

Yes. Entrepreneurs often benefit from CPD because they handle many roles at once — sales, communication, customer experience and decision-making — without formal training in each.

Can business owners take CPD programs?

Yes. Business owners use CPD to strengthen their own skills and to bring a more structured, professional standard to how their business communicates and sells.

Can sales professionals take CPD programs?

Yes. CPD in sales communication helps sales professionals refine discovery, questioning, handling objections and ethical practice, and document that learning.

Can service providers benefit from CPD?

Yes. Service providers regularly navigate conversations about needs, pricing and decisions. Skills in communication, buyer understanding and professional judgment apply directly.

Can organizations use CPD for staff development?

Organizations commonly use CPD to support staff development. The SHYNE Academy's architecture is being built with future team and organizational education in mind; such services are not currently offered.

Ethical Sales & Transferable Skills

What is ethical sales training?

Ethical sales training teaches people to sell through understanding, clarity and honest communication rather than pressure or manipulation. It focuses on discovering what a buyer actually needs, communicating clearly and inviting a decision respectfully.

Can Ethical Sales & Revenue Strategy be used outside digital marketing?

Yes. The program is built around professional sales skills that apply across industries and business models. It is not a social media or digital-marketing course.

Can the skills be applied across different industries?

Yes. Discovery, professional questioning, buyer readiness, handling objections and professional judgment are relevant wherever people make buying decisions — from professional services to retail to business-to-business sales.

Can the skills be used in face-to-face sales?

Yes. The program covers verbal sales conversations as well as written ones. The underlying skills are the same whether the conversation happens in person or remotely.

Can the skills be used in email, telephone, video and written sales conversations?

Yes. A sales conversation may happen by direct message, email, telephone, video meeting or face-to-face. The environment changes; the professional skills behind an effective conversation are transferable.

What are transferable professional skills?

Transferable skills are capabilities you can carry from one role, business or industry to another — such as communication, understanding people, sound judgment and building trust. They remain valuable when platforms, tools and trends change.
